Tech Tips - Event Registration

by Bill Monk

Do you need an efficient way to allow registration for various events? Are you tired of confusing slips of paper that get lost or emails with incomplete information? Then consider using the Event Registration capability of the DFC system.

Event Registration ScreenFor a visitor to register for an event, they would go to the "register for parish event" on the navigation bar. The next screen will show a list of available events. They then select the event they wish to register. If the visitor has not set up a profile already, they can fill out a simple form with name, user name, and e-mail address. Once that is done, they will be directed to register for the event.

With a single view in the DFC Content Management System, you can see all the people who have registered for a particular event and, if desired, download the complete list as an Excel spreadsheet. The advantage for the parish/group is that you will have on one sheet, a listing of all the registrants at your finger tips. You can have multiple events listed and even events for multiple organizations that users can access through a pull-down menu.

Bill Monk Greetings from Alabama and Trinity Church, Clanton. Here is my question: How can I place a calendar on my parish web site.... a calendar I can edit with new events along the way. I would like to place it on either the left or right side bar. Can you give me some simple directions? Thanks much. Bill King
